I think I could have contributed more had I selected more areas and remembered to check in more often!

Transport Research and Advocate for High-Speed Rail
What are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety. What would need to change for you to regularly choose more climate-friendly options?

I still drive a carbon car but have reduced my use of it to one tank of gas per month. I walk wherever I can and take light rail when I into downtown. I’m concerned about safety if I buy an e-bike/scooter—bike lanes are too scarce and traffic is too unpredictably re respecting the primacy of the bike lane.

I joined the challenge because we all need to do everything we can to address the climate crisis and I chose my particular actions because I wanted to educate myself on topics with which I’m unfamiliar and would create communications channels with legislators I’ve not yet met.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

I thought I wanted a Subaru Crosstrek hybrid but after doing the research and comparing my current driving patterns (less than one tank of gas per month) I realized I could choose a ZEV so it’s going to be a Nissan Leaf!

I thought I wanted to trade in my car for a Subaru Crosstrek hybrid but after doing my research I believe a Nissan Leaf is a better choice because I virtually never need to switch over to gasoline.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

We are conditioned to believe hat meat offers an unbeatable source of protein that’s required for us to have a healthy diet.  We are bombarded with ads from factory farms full of misleading and incorrect assertions.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Stuff is not as important as time and experiences shared with others.
