One last post and opportunity to show your commitment to Climate Change by supporting our Youth Environmental Action on May 3rd at 1 PM at Courtenay City Hall.  Best to all of you and thanks for making us rank 7th in Canada! Will be in touch with you in the Fall for more.

So this is the last day of the challenge. I hope to do this again since I really enjoy when the momentum gets me going. I have learned a lot but there is more to learn and do. Glad to have been part of our team and hope we do this again!

Well this the last day so here is my feedback - I actually enjoyed this challenge more than I thought I would - I will be better at selecting challenges next time as I think I made it easy on myself! More importantly I found I learned lots - about EVs and about how good we are at composting, small food scraps and having minimal garbage.  I think though the biggest learning has been that I am quite comfortable with a almost 100% plant-based diet - I am leaving it a bit open so I can eat meat once in awhile but that might change too. This was worth doing it for me - I thought I would do it for the 3 weeks but not be prepared to so easily adopt it. The eco challenge was worth doing for me just for that learning and it will result in behaviour change. I found it easy to check in every day and always liked to see what my team mates were doing. Thanks Helen for lighting a fire under me!

So glad to hear about your plant-based diet. Our family is vegetarian from Monday to Friday, and that seems to satisfy everyone. Next fall, the next challenge! Keep it up!

Thank you Helen for being our captain and encouraging us to participate. It has been a very rewarding experience and would definitely participate again. I will continue with my actions. The website is fantastic with so many great resources. If it continues to be accessible, there is more that I want to explore. I didn’t make the time for reflections which I would do better the next time. The most difficult actions to accomplish for me was sourcing local products. I do a lot more during the summer when I can get my produce from local farms. However I try to shop locally and use Canadian products as much as I can. The other action which was hard was composting. I collected coffee grounds and egg shells for the garden and kept vegetable scrapings in a bag in the freezer to make vegetable stock. However I would do better with a municipal composting program. I tried a compost bin a few years ago but the rats liked it too We are avid composter. My husband and I decided to change our car earlier than planned because of the recent report on climate and this ecochallenge which incited us in reviewing resources. We are aiming to change our car next year. Thanks again and 7th place in Canada is amazing!!!  Go Comox Valley nurses 👏👏👏

Hi Sharon, I am replying to you by hitting the Reply with a pencil icon that shows directly under your comment, beside the Hi-Five logo of a hand. To see comments from the team at the top of the page it has SHOW UPDATES FROM MY TEAM as the header. You can look at your own replies to the Reflection Questions that do invite you to go deeper into the subject. It has indeed been a learning curve, including for myself. I am hoping to tap into a Tutorial that could be shared more readily in the fall prior to starting the Challenge. All and all, I have received some positive feedback. Will keep you posted via our CV Nurses for Health and the Environment website www.cvnhe.org that was created by team member Alexandra Clarke and will be launched next week, please like and follow us on Facebook (the cvnhe) and Instagram (cvnhe) too!

The Challenge has been good, for learning so much more about peatlands, different farming mehtods, and on, and on. It has also provided me with daily reminders about energy conservation. I have engaged other people, in conversation, about Climaet Change, and what we all need to do.

What did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?

I learned about silvopasture techniques, or addition of trees, to pastures, or crops, for higher yields, and carbon uptake. I wonder hw many farmers use this method? Also, biomas can be converted into energy, soo instead of harming the planet, the biomass is actually beneficial, if converted..
