To my team mates thanks for helping out for our event. Hope everyone learned something interesting and maybe a way to help with the environment and the future.
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?
Trees help us breathe. They keep us cool. They keep the earth cool. They make it rain. They block the wind. They refill aquifers. They help fight flooding. They clean up soil and air. They create medicine. They create jobs. They muffle noise pollution. They help us explore and relax.
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
I hope that everyone that participated around the nation has learned at least one way to help with the environmental challenges we face and to try to make a difference in our lives and future lives.
I think by deceasing some of my meat intake and eating more fruits and vegetables. Also by purchasing food that comes in recyclable packaging would help.
Dependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
