    The challenge really made you think of what you were wasting.  My grocery store where I shop sells a lot of locally sourced food so that makes it easier.  Carpooling is harder to continue as people have different schedules.  However it does show the need to have some type of mass transit here in Northern Colorado.  Recycling has become a given...

    With the many options we had to select from it was simpler to select items that were attainable.  The more education on how to help with polluting our environment, more and more people are taking steps to make an impact.

    The distances are always shorter than we think, so it definitely worth walking instead of driving.

    I would definitely use the extra money to buy books since I love reading and to donate to charities that help with food shortages across the world.  If we handled the food waste we could make such a difference in terms of feeding people (not trying to minimize other challenges with that though).

    Smaller portions are also good for your health.   Both in terms of spacing out consumption so you don't feel over full as well as based on studies that have shown that we tend to consume in industrialized countries more than what we should.

    Supporting programs that adopt children (girls in this case) to provide for their health as well as education.   There are some great programs and you get to know your sponsored child.
