BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Way to go, Reinhabitors!  I think we showed up quite nicely for this competition and for Gaia.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Install a Low-Flow Showerhead
What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

Recently, in my community, a new sustainability plan has been implemented which promotes water conservation and efficiency. The plan calls for a central irrigation system that prevents overwatering and monitors water consumption and for artificial turf fields.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

Right now, I think I could do a little more reusing. I reuse bags as often as I can, but other than that I don’t reuse many things. If I put a little effort into repurposing things rather than just buying new things, it would feel pretty good.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Social Justice Improve a Bus Stop
How can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?

I think when public transportation, for example, is very accessible and organized it is used more frequently.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Land Use Learn about Temperate Forests
As you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?

As I Iearn more, it is becoming harder and harder to fall into the habit of just forgetting everything that goes on around me. It is quite overwhelming in the moment when you read the statistics, and I think that is one of the reasons why its easier to just ignore everything that is happening. There are also good parts, though; hearing about what other people have been doing and the simple steps I can take to do my part makes me feel a little more hopeful.

Reinhabitors, this is it. The final chance to set some intentions, to think of ways to move more gracefully and beautifully through the world, to learn about the impact of actions and purchasing decisions, to make a small but positive change in the direction of the human family. I'm super impressed with your commitment to the project, but think you can each manage just a bit more good work in the last few hours.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Buildings and Cities Choose LED Bulbs
Changing lightbulbs is an excellent first step toward energy efficiency! What's next for you?

I spoke to my family this morning making plans to install solar panels on both my  houses to offset some of out energy usage with sustainable, renewable energy.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Support Nutrient Management
How does environmental quality influence your sense of community?

Purchasing food from local sources who don't use synthetic fertilizers or herbicides strengthens my sense of community because I can speak to the farmer about his farm and have some sense of what/where he is speaking about. Furthermore, knowing that he doesn't use synthetic fertilizers and herbicides shows to me that he is respecting his land and is thus respecting our  land.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Advocate for Solar Installation
How does advocating for rooftop solar connect to your values? How might you be able to get others involved in advocating for the shift to clean energy?

We are writing an article in the school newspaper about the School's' failed efforts to install solar panels. The solar panels are not connected to anything.
