Virginia Mason Communications Climateers Feed

BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Since today is the last day of Virginia Mason participating in this year's Drawdown EcoChallenge, I just wanted to thank all the members of my departmental team, the Communications Climateers. Excellent job! Way to help make a difference for the health of Mother Earth and our grandchildren's grandchildren.

Since Monday is the last day of our participation in the Drawdown EcoChallenge, I encourage my teammates to finish strong since we are in the home stretch of our participation. Do it for Mother Earth and future generations!

Do you have any personal connections to a farm or farmland? If so, what are they? What feelings are evoked for you when thinking about declining farmland?

My parents grew up on farmland in Tennessee.  Sadly, that land is now urban residential land.  I support the work of American Farmland Trust to help preserve much needed, valuable farmland.

Efforts continue to go well. Yesterday, I invited our freelance graphic designer, Dean Driskell, to Join Virginia Mason Communications Climateers. Go (green) team!

We are halfway through the Drawdown EcoChallenge and I am feeling really good about the progress that my team - Virginia Mason Communications Climateers - and I are making. Not only are these the right things to do, but our grandchildren's grandchildren will thank us. GO, Mother Earth!

I planted a tree this weekend, which felt good and will likely encourage me to plant more in the near future.

My challenge is going well. Each day's actions have become easier and less time consuming. I have no doubt that my efforts will become habitual even after my participation in this year's Drawdown EcoChallenge ends.

The challenge is going well and proving to be a fun, enlightening, engaging and competitive experience. I have been impressed with the online platform, it's ease of use and by regular motivation from Virginia Mason Sustainability Director, John Leigh.

How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

Not only does planting trees increase the natural beauty of a space/area, but in doing so you increase the earth's ability to generate more oxygen and help offset carbon production, which is the leading cause of global warming.

Glad to be carpooling to impact climate change!  Must get around to improving a bus stop!
