Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

I think I will have to do more research on which companies to purchase from in order to be sure I am not taking part in decreasing the forest lands. I would also love to find ways to support the indigenous people in saving little pockets of our planet.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Are bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?

In Seattle there are MANY shops that sell only sustainable materials. It would be great to have more and more places like this; however, the cost does seem to be an issue to make that happen.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Learn More about Regenerative Agriculture
Clean air, clean water and healthy food are three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons?

Jobs are also an important part of agriculture in general.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

Family planning can literally change the future of all parties. Understanding health family is the best way to encourage and lift up our future generations.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Forest-Friendly Foods 1
How is your diet currently impacting deforestation? What can you do to decrease your negative impact and increase your positive impact?

I currently eat eggs and meat, and drink milk and coffee. I can definitely reduce how much of each of these things to help (very slightly) in the deforestation issue.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Transport Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

I would love to spend less at the gas station AND go further with my tank!

Aside from missing days of checking in, the challenge is a good reminder when I get lazy and "just don't want to."
I know the people around me think I am slightly crazy when it comes to 'saving the planet;' however, if I don't do my part, who will??
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Support Local Food Systems
Dependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?

I grew up eating straight from the vine; so, being able  eat the freshest purchased food possible is most "inspiring" reason for me to support local farmers. Also, my number one reason to search for u-pick farms as often as possible. =)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    Jessica Cram's avatar
    Jessica Cram 4/18/2019 1:17 PM
Everyone who knows me, knows I am crazy about "the 'Rs'" and have been working to do as much as I can to reduce the amount of waste we have in this world. I would love to find ways to repurpose more items as this will decrease, even more, the amount added to the landfill.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Go Paperless
What do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?

My family and friends are the most important pieces of my every day. I love purging and having less and less distractions from spending time with them.
