To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

I finish all of my meals every meal. Wasting food is also wasting money.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Plant Trees
How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

It feels pretty good to actively have an impact on the environment and also to produce my own food. I planted a tangerine tree in my front yard.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Try Carpooling
List some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?

I carpool to and from work and all activities with my friends.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

I would argue that we produce the majority of the worlds food. I would also argue that we produce the majority of the meat in the world. With that being said, meat is cheap enough for us to purchase on a daily basis for multiple meals a day.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

Smaller portions are healthier for your body. They speed up your metabolism.
