REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn More about SilvopastureHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Amanda Burns 4/04/2019 10:40 AMYes! From Drawdown. It seems like the biggest advantages of silvopasture are 1) being able to keep the landscape similar to how it was, with trees and native plants- biodiversity (as opposed to clear-cutting the area to create pasture) and 2) being able to use existing (or planted) trees to sequester carbon from the atmosphere! (which is not as significant on pastureland with grasses). It also seems like it is nice for the cattle and other livestock because they are shaded and have more protection against the elements. ((It also creates a more closed-loop system where the livestock eat the grass, fertilize the soil, and create better soil for the trees and plants to grow))
