REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Learn about Temperate ForestsAs you learn more about the scope and seriousness of the environmental challenges we face, what impact does that have on your thinking and actions? What are the parts that feel overwhelming? What parts help you feel hopeful?
Jean-louis Button 4/03/2019 2:14 PMThe more I read, the more I just want to never use a piece of plastic ever again and just be 100% natural. I only want to leave footprints behind and help to look after and preserve the beautiful nature around us. It's so devastating to witness the impact we're having on this planet, it's truly heart-breaking and I just wish we would stop focusing on things that don't matter (like Brexit) and start to take this whole life thing a bit more seriously. Because if we don't, we won't be around for much longer :( -
Jean-louis Button 3/29/2019 6:55 AMToday I have made an effort to only travel by bike, bring my water bottle with me to fill up at the Library whilst also minimising my food waste and plastic usage. I hope everyone else is doing the same :) ! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Explore Other Food SolutionsWhat did you find out? What is the most interesting fact you learned?
Jean-louis Button 3/29/2019 6:54 AMIt's interesting to see how much water and energy is used to produce the food that we eat. When you dig down to the true impact our eating habits have on the environment, it's truly shocking! -
Jean-louis Button 3/28/2019 3:01 PMAnother day and another step in the right direction of being plastic free, reducing food waste whilst also getting from A to B in the most eco-friendly way possible! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Install a Toilet BankHow can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?
Jean-louis Button 3/28/2019 3:01 PMI have installed one of those devices in the toilet which limits the amount of water used per flush. It's a great idea, super easy to install and the toilet still does the same job no problem! It's silly why every toilet doesn't have this installed as a standard. There is no need to waste so much water all around the world. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Eliminate Toxic PlasticsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Jean-louis Button 3/28/2019 2:59 PMI am guilty of using plastic bags when shopping if I forget to bring my own bag. I don't buy coffee and I try not to use plastic straws when ever I can. I will be more conscious on not buying bottled water anymore and just filling up my re-usable bottle at home to take with me. Little steps can make a big difference if we all work together! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Choose Recycled PaperGood job on choosing recycled paper! How can you take your action a step further?
Jean-louis Button 3/28/2019 2:58 PMSourcing out recycled paper isn't too difficult, but it generally tends to be more expensive than other options. This again needs more publication and laws should be in place to make sure that we are reaching a minimum % of overall recycled products to be reused for further use. Rather than continuing to cut down, chop up and destroy our environment just for a brief moment of ease/source of money. This ends up having devastating effects long term, which companies don't seem to care about.
