Support Indigenous Peoples' Land Management
#39 Indigenous Peoples' Land Management
I will donate to The Nature Conservancy, which works with Indigenous Peoples to secure land tenure and resource rights, support improved governance and local institutions, assist in natural resource mapping, planning and management; and strengthen livelihoods and sustainable economic development.

Andrew Butz 4/21/2019 7:47 AMWith Earth Day, Passover, & Easter happening the same weekend, isn't it interesting that the latter 2 are also among the most ecology/nature-oriented of traditional holidays? ...Hoping the eco-crisis will soon become the ultimate symbol & ACT of cosmic rebirth - theguardian.com/commentisfree/belief/2012/apr/08/easter-sunday-christianity-death . -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Use Public TransitHow has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Andrew Butz 4/16/2019 12:38 PMGrowing up in American SUBURBAN sprawl, public transit seemed like an impoverished inconvenience. But when I discovered travel in other countries (European, Asian...), I suddenly realized that the suburbs themselves are the 'impoverished inconvenience' -- and one of the major threats to planet earth. -
Andrew Butz 4/15/2019 8:37 AMOn this surprising sunny day, I'm both inspired & shamed by this Scandinavian city, where the weather is worse -- while 62% commute by bicycle.... theguardian.com/environment/2018/feb/11/how-build-healthy-city-copenhagen-reveals-its-secrets-happiness -
Andrew Butz 4/13/2019 6:48 PMOur team broke 1000 points, but I read this news today oh boy - rollingstone.com/politics/politics-features/bill-mckibben-falter-climate-change (4/9/19 ...and McKibben's grim picture is not a worst-case scenario). Ugh, can we dance when our Bed Are Burning?-
Kim Smith 4/15/2019 12:16 AMHI, Andrew. I read that article this weekend, too. Pretty devastating. I am going to keep trying and strive to take steps, but sometimes I just want to pull the covers over my head.

Andrew Butz 4/08/2019 3:45 PMWell, Spring is here! But then again EcoChallenge April, is also "the cruellest month". So while some of us are making progress, so-called homo sapiens -- especially Homo Fat-Cat-icus -- better damn well step it up NOW. Tick tock, tick tock - nationalgeographic.com/environment/2019/02/antarctic-greenland-ice-melt . (Note the headline is deceptive.... While worst-case sea rise looks less likely from the research cited, climate chaos looks *more* likely now.)-
Kim Smith 4/08/2019 4:01 PMSo scary... Thank you for sharing this link, Andrew.
