I've worked with the Lehigh Valley Quakers for the past 5 years to host a fundraising "Harambee"--a celebretory lunch of Kenyan recipes-- to raise funds to send Kenyan girls to school. I was interested to learn about the intersection of girls' education and climate change.

Learned about the difference between biomass and biofuels. Questions raised: Is biomass renewable? Sort of.  Is it carbon neutral? Not really--especially if it's produced in USA and shipped to Europe!  What role might it play (if any) in reducing CO2 emissions? Not sure. 30 minutes was not enough time for me to thoroughly research pros and cons of biomass.

Very interesting to know! I think that the biggest gains from biomass would be 1) locally produced 2) as part of another operation, and that the biomass is a byproduct that we could gain additional energy from. Personally, i don't know if using land to grow biomass product solely for energy production is efficient enough. But i haven't done enough homework either lol
