REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Hannah Delzer 4/17/2019 9:49 AMAfter doing a tour of campus, I realized that overall our campus community is a pretty sustainable place. However, when I am at my home community I believe that we are less sustainable. If we could include more things like tree planting, more options to shop local (for food and goods), and adding more renewable energy sources such as solar panels. This would complete my vision of a sustainable community that is friendly and green. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Try CarpoolingList some of the places you frequent often (work, grocery store, natural areas). Could you choose one or two days a week to schedule driving with a friend, neighbor or co-worker to these places?
Hannah Delzer 4/17/2019 9:42 AM-To Work
-Places on Campus (if bad weather)
-Grocery Store
-Church
-Social Outings
For the most part my friends and I already do our best to pick each other up and drive together. A few places that I could do this more with is work and the grocery store.

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Hannah Delzer 4/17/2019 9:40 AMI think that America eats more meat than any other country because it is easily accessible and part of our culture. Americans typically consume meat, vegetables, fruit, grains, and dairy with each meal. We were taught at a young age that all of these food groups need to be in our diet and since Americans are bad at portions, we eat more meat than necessary. -
Hannah Delzer 4/07/2019 4:08 PMDaily Eco-Friendly Reminder: When at a restaurant, try to reduce the amount of straws in the ocean by asking for no straw or by bringing your own reusable one. As of right now there are about 8.3 BILLION plastic straws laying on shorelines around the world. -
Hannah Delzer 4/06/2019 12:13 PMDaily Eco-Friendly Reminder: Remember to shut your lights off when you leave a room, even if it is just for a little bit! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
Hannah Delzer 4/05/2019 7:23 AMBy understanding the difference of these dates it can help keep me from wasting perfectly good food and could prevent me from eating something that could make me sick. Knowing that use-by is a must follow date, sell-by is directed towards the retailers to have their item sold by, and best-by is a suggestion of when it should be eaten by, is great knowledge to know when both buying and consuming. -
Hannah Delzer 4/05/2019 7:14 AMDaily Eco-Friendly Reminder: When leaving your dorm room, be sure to unplug things from your outlet and shut off all lights when you leave! Just by doing small actions like these we can save so much electricity and our Earth! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Use Muscle PowerHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
Hannah Delzer 4/04/2019 3:48 PMBeing in college it is easy to change to walking more places than driving. By walking more it allows you to become more engaged with the community because it is an easy 5-20 minutes each time that you can spend bonding and communicating with those within your community. My experience is that I have been able to grow closer with my friends/strangers and also receive the health benefits walking has to offer. -
Hannah Delzer 4/04/2019 3:39 PMDaily Eco-Friendly Reminder: Ditch the plastic water bottle! According to the Water Project, about 80% of water bottles are not recycled. One option is to cut the plastic completely and use a reusable one, or get more than one use out of the plastic bottle you are using. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Keep Track of Wasted FoodAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?
Hannah Delzer 4/03/2019 5:39 PMSeeing the amount $1,500 is insane! If I could spend this money on anything it would probably go towards a vacation, hopefully somewhere on a beach! However, knowing my mom, she would probably recommend I put it towards paying tuition, which would be one HECK ;) of a yearly scholarship!!
