  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Research Peatlands
Much of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?

    Stacey Dever's avatar
    Stacey Dever 4/22/2019 10:29 AM
I can help protect peat lands need to know where they are located with the million tonnes of carbons
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Forest-Friendly Foods 2
How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?

    Stacey Dever's avatar
    Stacey Dever 4/18/2019 10:07 AM
It wasn't that hard because I barely use these products especially coffee because i don't drink it at all and only drank it like 3 times.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Communicate With My Elected Officials
What inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?

    Stacey Dever's avatar
    Stacey Dever 4/12/2019 10:12 AM
What inspires me is to act on this is that we are kind of destroying the Earth when using Geothermal energy because it might seem like its helping us which it is but then what do you think the effects on these do to some of the wild life or the see life. So trying to minimize geothermal energy and its gas hopefully will have a slight decrease with global warming
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Learn More About Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?

    Stacey Dever's avatar
    Stacey Dever 4/10/2019 10:29 AM
Geothermal energy actually uses a process to produce energy that's similar to coal or natural gas. However, it bypasses the need to burn fossil fuels to create steam by using the steam from hot water already found within the Earth's crust. This makes geothermal energy both clean and renewable.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Improve a Bus Stop
How can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?

    Stacey Dever's avatar
    Stacey Dever 4/05/2019 10:44 AM
We can keep the stops where you get on and off at clean so that more people look at the public transportation good and useful instead of thinking its just dirty all the time.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Stay on the Ground
What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

    Stacey Dever's avatar
    Stacey Dever 4/05/2019 10:34 AM
We can avoid air travel with using the public buses, trains, your own vehicle and it would be better because you get to explore and see new places on the way to your destination also that you can create a stronger bond with whoever you are with.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Use Public Transit
How has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?

    Stacey Dever's avatar
    Stacey Dever 4/05/2019 10:30 AM
It has influenced my character and how to respect the seniors and others around the community and you get to become more humble even if you have your own vehicle you can take some days and use public transit.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy Credits
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your zipcode, and in your state. What steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

    Stacey Dever's avatar
    Stacey Dever 4/05/2019 10:20 AM
Some steps that I can use to reduce my electricity usage are
    • Start turning my fan off at night
    • Unplug lights, consoles, fridge etc. that you are not using at night to reduce electricity
    • Try getting for a portable charger and charge it during the day and use it to charge your phone at night
    • Use power strips
    • Check the watts on your light bulbs and go for the cheaper long lasting ones

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?

    Stacey Dever's avatar
    Stacey Dever 4/03/2019 10:26 AM
My vision of a sustainable community has the needs of everyone in the community are met and people feel safe, healthy and ultimately happy, our environment is appreciated, protected and enhanced and damage to the environment is minimized, our economy is vibrant, employment opportunities are improved and our working lives are more rewarding.
The thing that would need to be changed are the use energy, water and other natural resources efficiently and with care, to minimize waste, then re-use or recover it through recycling, composting or energy recovery, and finally sustainable dispose of what is left, limit pollution to levels which do not damage natural systems and value and protect the diversity of nature
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Learn More about Wave and Tidal Energy
What did you learn about wave and tidal energy? Were you surprised by the information you found?

    Stacey Dever's avatar
    Stacey Dever 4/03/2019 10:18 AM
Wave and Tidal Energy. Turning the energy of the ocean's waves and tides into power that we can use is a new and unproven technology. However, the potential is there for a significant renewable and environmentally clean energy source. Wave energy is energy harnessed from the waves of the ocean.
