Transport
Purchase a Carbon Offset
#43 Airplanes
If I buy a plane ticket, I will purchase a carbon offset.
Land Use
Forest-Friendly Foods 2
#5 Tropical Forests
I will replace or remove the palm oil, coffee, and cocoa products in my current diet that are known to contribute to deforestation.
Land Use
Research Peatlands
#13 Peatlands
I will spend 40 minutes researching the environmental benefits of peatlands and what is being done around the world to conserve and restore them.
Electricity Generation
Communicate With My Elected Officials
#2 Wind Turbines (Onshore)
I will write or call 2 elected official(s) telling them not to support fossil fuel subsidies and instead support wind energy generation.
Transport
Stay on the Ground
#43 Airplanes, #63 Telepresence
Instead of traveling by plane, I will find an alternative way to accomplish the goals of an upcoming trip (i.e. telepresence, vacation locally).
Electricity Generation
Watch a Video about Methane Digesters
#30 Methane Digesters (large), #64 Methane Digesters (small)
I will watch a video about methane digesters (also commonly known as anaerobic digesters).
Transport
Use Public Transit
#37 Mass Transit
I will use public transit 2 mile(s) per day and avoid sending up to 3.54 lbs of CO2 into Earth's atmosphere.
Electricity Generation
Learn More about Wave and Tidal Energy
#29 Wave and Tidal
I will spend at least 30 minutes learning more about the energy generation potential of wave and tidal energy.
Electricity Generation
Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy Credits
#2 Wind Turbines (Onshore), #8 Solar Farms
I will sign up for my utility company's clean/renewable energy option. If my utility does not offer one, I will purchase Renewable Energy Credits to match my usage.
Transport
Explore Other Transport Solutions
All Transport Solutions
I will spend at least 30 minutes researching other Drawdown Transport Solutions.
Electricity Generation
Learn More About Geothermal Energy
#18 Geothermal
I will spend at least 20 minutes learning more about the energy generation potential of geothermal energy and consider investing in this technology.
Transport
Improve a Bus Stop
#37 Mass Transit
I will improve a bus stop in my neighborhood by posting the stop schedule, adding seating or shelter, adding art or flowers, picking up litter, or implementing some other small improvement.

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Research PeatlandsMuch of Indonesia's peatlands have been drained so they could be replaced with palm oil or pulp and paper plantations. How can you make choices that help to protect peatlands, even if you live far away from one?
Stacey Dever 4/22/2019 10:29 AMI can help protect peat lands need to know where they are located with the million tonnes of carbons -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Forest-Friendly Foods 2How difficult or easy was it to change your diet?
Stacey Dever 4/18/2019 10:07 AMIt wasn't that hard because I barely use these products especially coffee because i don't drink it at all and only drank it like 3 times. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Communicate With My Elected OfficialsWhat inspires you to act on sustainable energy and other energy issues?
Stacey Dever 4/12/2019 10:12 AMWhat inspires me is to act on this is that we are kind of destroying the Earth when using Geothermal energy because it might seem like its helping us which it is but then what do you think the effects on these do to some of the wild life or the see life. So trying to minimize geothermal energy and its gas hopefully will have a slight decrease with global warming -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More About Geothermal EnergyGeothermal energy is reliable, abundant, and efficient. Project Drawdown states that public investment will play a crucial role in its expansion. In what ways (i.e. with money, time, advocacy) can you invest in geothermal energy?
Stacey Dever 4/10/2019 10:29 AMGeothermal energy actually uses a process to produce energy that's similar to coal or natural gas. However, it bypasses the need to burn fossil fuels to create steam by using the steam from hot water already found within the Earth's crust. This makes geothermal energy both clean and renewable. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Improve a Bus StopHow can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?
Stacey Dever 4/05/2019 10:44 AMWe can keep the stops where you get on and off at clean so that more people look at the public transportation good and useful instead of thinking its just dirty all the time. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Stay on the GroundWhat was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?
Stacey Dever 4/05/2019 10:34 AMWe can avoid air travel with using the public buses, trains, your own vehicle and it would be better because you get to explore and see new places on the way to your destination also that you can create a stronger bond with whoever you are with. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Use Public TransitHow has your access to various kinds of transporation throughout your life influenced your current attitudes about transportation and your transportation behavior?
Stacey Dever 4/05/2019 10:30 AMIt has influenced my character and how to respect the seniors and others around the community and you get to become more humble even if you have your own vehicle you can take some days and use public transit. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy CreditsYour utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your zipcode, and in your state. What steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?
Stacey Dever 4/05/2019 10:20 AMSome steps that I can use to reduce my electricity usage are- Start turning my fan off at night
- Unplug lights, consoles, fridge etc. that you are not using at night to reduce electricity
- Try getting for a portable charger and charge it during the day and use it to charge your phone at night
- Use power strips
- Check the watts on your light bulbs and go for the cheaper long lasting ones

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Watch a Video about Methane DigestersWhat does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for such vision to become reality?
Stacey Dever 4/03/2019 10:26 AMMy vision of a sustainable community has the needs of everyone in the community are met and people feel safe, healthy and ultimately happy, our environment is appreciated, protected and enhanced and damage to the environment is minimized, our economy is vibrant, employment opportunities are improved and our working lives are more rewarding.
The thing that would need to be changed are the use energy, water and other natural resources efficiently and with care, to minimize waste, then re-use or recover it through recycling, composting or energy recovery, and finally sustainable dispose of what is left, limit pollution to levels which do not damage natural systems and value and protect the diversity of nature -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More about Wave and Tidal EnergyWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? Were you surprised by the information you found?
Stacey Dever 4/03/2019 10:18 AMWave and Tidal Energy. Turning the energy of the ocean's waves and tides into power that we can use is a new and unproven technology. However, the potential is there for a significant renewable and environmentally clean energy source. Wave energy is energy harnessed from the waves of the ocean.
