REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric VehicleReducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?
Marcy Easton 4/23/2019 12:14 PMI don't own a vehicle. When I research vehicles, I become overwhelmed by the idea of depending on fossil fuels for transportation. I think I will eventually purchase a small hybrid or other fuel-efficient vehicle. I think hybrid vehicles make a lot of sense, especially in urban areas with a lot of traffic. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Research Barriers to Participation and RepresentationWhat are some of the barriers that exist to women's equal participation and/or representation in your community?
Marcy Easton 4/19/2019 11:58 AMPerception is one of the main barriers to women's equal participation. People often associate the same characteristics with men as they do with successful Managers. In many developed and developing countries, women complete the majority of the "unpaid" work in the home, which leaves less time for participation in the community. In some countries, a man can dictate whether or not his wife can work outside the home. I think we need to do more to build confidence in girls and young women so they believe in their ability to participate in the community. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Conduct Virtual MeetingsHow can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?

REFLECTION QUESTIONWomen and Girls Learn about the Need for Family PlanningWhat did you learn about the need for family planning? Share some of the learning with your friends!
Marcy Easton 4/16/2019 12:21 PMI was surprised to learn that access is one of the least common barriers to family planning. Societal pressure and family expectations often influence a woman's decision not to access family planning. Family planning can save lives and increase the health of mothers and their children. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn More about SilvopastureHad you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?
Marcy Easton 4/11/2019 8:56 AMI had never heard of silvopasture before! The term is intriguing and fun to say! I think the biggest advantage of silvopasture is that it increases biodiversity in areas used for pasturing or timber production. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Support Local Food SystemsDependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?
Marcy Easton 4/09/2019 8:05 AMI am inspired by the variety of beautiful fruits and vegetables grown in our region and the dedication of the people who grow food, whether it's on a farm or in a yard. I am also inspired by gleaners, who work to build community and prevent waste. Let us not forget the chefs, bakers, and food producers who create beautiful value-added products and meals. We are fortunate to live in a fertile valley with a robust food system! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Go for a Daily WalkWhat have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?
Marcy Easton 4/08/2019 7:55 AMI notice that sidewalks are in various states of disrepair. Some are in great condition while others flood during rain or have uneven areas. I enjoy that we have sidewalks throughout our town, making it easy to walk almost anywhere. A bridge over the Amazon canal would make cutting through Amazon Park a lot easier. Overall, we have great infrastructure for walking! -
Marcy Easton 4/03/2019 1:53 PMI walked to work today. It's one of my favorite activities. I notice where the storm drains are clear and where they are backed up with debris, especially when it's rainy! This time of year there are new leaves and beautiful flowers to admire.
