Today instead of going on a 20 minute Walk, I sat outside and just enjoyed nature. My dogs came up and licked my face a few times and would distract me, but I would try to meditate and so far I've felt like a different person. I just feel so calm with myself and happy- it's also only been like an hour so wish me luck :)

OH! I also prevented the waste of lettuce at my work place (we throw it out every night because it becomes dry from sitting out all day on the buffet table) by taking it to a family event the next day instead of buying a whole new salad for the event. I felt pretty resourceful then.

Reading all of your guyses responses and findings is so fascinating. It almost makes me wish I had committed to one of the research questions, but I just don't have time. When I was on my break today though I looked up how things are recycled and broken down. It was super fascinating to learn about all the sorting and melting and whatnot they do in these recycling centers. I remember that we learned about it a little in my Health class sophomore year of High School, but I completely forgot until I reviewed today.

By keeping track of my wasted food I have been guilt tripping myself into eating the rest of everything and getting smaller portions. It's definitely helped me from over eating in some senses and it's also made me eat so much that I go into a food coma afterwards haha! But either way I've stopped throwing out so much and I feel better about it.

Two days ago I ate 100% vegetarian. I didn't eat any meat, but I definitely had some eggs and cheese. I was really proud of myself and even had more energy then I normally do through out the day. Yesterday, I did load at my job. which means I took the shipments of everything and I recycled more than the load person normally does. I even made sure that some of the crew added to my pile of cardboard instead of throwing some away. Today, at my job I actually educated my boss on expiration dates from a post I read here. He said he never eats anything past even "best by" dates and I told him that my class would be very disappointed in him and proceeded to explain the difference and that things were okay to eat even sometimes after the expiration date!! I have also been going on walks with my mom everyday and I love just sharing the time with her too talk and be in nature. Our dogs also love it!!

The past few days I have been focused on my goals, but by the time I complete them all and bed time rolls around I completely forget to imputes my progress on here. I'm going to start setting a reminder to check-in every night because I know that then I don't get the points on here showing that I did it!!

Today I managed to recycle every single recyclable thing I touched and I even convinced my cousins to help me and educated them on the impacts of just recycling their beer cans and boxes can do. Usually they leave them around or just toss them in the trash.

In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

I think North America eating more meat than other countries has to do with our love for hunting. My whole family goes during hunting season and I feel like it's almost a part of puberty and stepping into adulthood for some boys. Which isn't entirely wrong, but I think it says that North America cares more about leisure activities and what they can do for fun over what would actually be environmentally beneficial for the environment. A lot of times people don't even understand or know the environmental impacts of their actions and their ignorance allows them to live guilt free and damage the Earth every day.

I forgot to post yesterday because it was my birthday and by midnight I was out in Portland and time was up. I wanted to comment on how eating at least two vegan meals has made me feel. I have felt more energetic and happy almost. I know protein is great for the body and stored energy, but I also get exceptionally tired after eating it which stems from the digestion of such hard food. one of my jobs hard a long salad bar and it's very easy to eat Vegan/meatless there because there's almost no meat. I've eaten so many salads to complete this challenge and it's so great and fun! I feel as though my body is even thanking me because I'm just better. It's hard to explain!

How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

I like to incorporate all the "R's" into my life as best I can. I try to reduce reuse and recycle, I had no idea there were so many other options too. I reuse all of the boxes I get in the mail as shipping boxes when I have things to send out and I work with the shipments at one of my jobs and offer our excess boxes to some customers who are moving. I feel as though there's always someone moving or can use boxes for something. Implementing the "R's" makes me feel proud and it helps save a lot of money. I find myself using little trinkets and gadgets around the house to help with my projects instead of constantly going to the store and buying new materials. I also feel that it pushes my creativity and then I know what my "garbage" is going to instead of just tossing it and letting it be someone else problem.
