  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Eliminate Toxic Plastics
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

My plastic consumption usually consists of:
    • To-go juices (Naked juice, in particular)
    • Coffee cup lids
    • Straws
    • Food packaging
    • Plastic bags for the shared bathroom trash bin
    I can substitute these with:
    • Juice from home in my own to-go container
    • Coffee from home in my own coffee container
    • The metal straw I have sitting in my drawer. :(
    • "Naked" foods (like bread from the bakery, unpackaged fruits, etc.)
    • An old pillow case that I can reuse
I need to get into the habit of pre-making coffee, drinking more water (instead of juice), carrying my metal straw with me every day, and finding an old pillow case to use for the bathroom trash can.

I'm mostly focusing on reducing my plastic consumption. For about a week to a week and a half, I was virtually plastic free (in terms of buying and using). I caved one day when I needed an energy boost during a late night and bought a Naked juice drink. That caused a bit of a snowball effect...So I'm starting fresh today (Wed, April 17)!
