In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

I imagine it's partly because it's inexpensive, people like the taste of it, and people don't care much about the environmental impacts of eating less meat.

I spent a fair amount of time reading about the incredible deforestation that occurs during much of the world's coffee production. I want to change my habits to buy coffee that is shade grown and doesn't contribute to deforestation. And maybe drink a little less coffee while I'm at it, since the roasting of coffee beans has a huge carbon footprint as well!
