REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Eliminate Toxic PlasticsWhat single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?
Astrid Koksvik-Engen 4/23/2019 11:33 AMBringing our own shopping bags & coffee cups when shopping helps to reduce waste. The shops need to look into other alternatives to all the packaging of items; bringing our own shopping boxes is one possible option that would be easy to adjust to for most people. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Plan to InsulateWhat are some of the benefits of making your home more energy efficient?
Astrid Koksvik-Engen 4/16/2019 2:01 AMBetter indoor climate, it is cost efficient due reduction of additional heating during the winter. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Astrid Koksvik-Engen 4/11/2019 5:55 AMI would guess that both the huge amount of advertising and availability of various meat in shops and restaurants, are the reason for the large amount of meat consumption in North America as well as in Europe. Once we start to think of alternatives to meat, it is easier to change to vegetarian options. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Buy BambooAre bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?
Astrid Koksvik-Engen 4/11/2019 5:04 AMYes, bamboo is available to purchase as fabric materials for clothing, some food (mostly canned food so far) and as a building material for flooring and decorative surfaces in interior design, as well as smaller household products like bowls, plates, picture frames etc. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More about Wave and Tidal EnergyWhat did you learn about wave and tidal energy? Were you surprised by the information you found?
Astrid Koksvik-Engen 4/04/2019 2:44 AMWave and tidal energy could potentially have a very large impact on reducing carbon dioxide emissions over the next decades; it demands thorough research and is an expensive investment, but it will pay off eventually!
