I have a huge love for the outdoors. We spend a lot of time hiking, climbing, kayaking and just enjoying the natural beauty.

I'm sure by now that most people have heard of the #trashtag challenge. I have seen some absolutely stunning transformations, from beaches, to parks, to highways. It really goes to show that every little bit counts!

Wow ! Some of those transformations are incredible.
I had not heard of this before.
      Thanks for sharing.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How can you ensure that your virtual meetings honor your values and your company's culture?

    Shiral LeBlanc's avatar

I think that always providing the option to meet virtually and having the necessary equipment and software will help to create the culture that virtual meetings are acceptable.

I'm not sure how many other walkers we have in the group, but the more I walk, the more I discover how our fair city is not made for walking. From a lack of sidewalks, drivers not stopping at pedestrian crossings, terrible sidewalk maintenance and I just keep adding to my list. This afternoon, a group of us were crossing at a walk light with the right-of-way and we were almost clipped by a car that hadn't even glanced to the right to check for pedestrians. It's a scary thing when one of the gentlemen crossing was also pushing a baby stroller.

Shiral, having come here from a very walkable community in the Greater Toronto Area, I learned very quickly that my new home base was not amenable to pedestrians. It was an eye opening experience when I tried to walk back home after dropping the car off at the dealership for service.  Do city officials think that sidewalks are not useful feature of the infrastructure?

Are bamboo alternatives readily available in your community? If not, what are other sustainable alternatives?

I have just discovered bamboo sheet, and they are incredibly soft and breathable! I find products are much more readily available with online shopping now.

In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

I find that many of the prepackaged meals and meals-to-go contain meat. I enjoy cooking and tend to eat dinner a little later. It's not very convenient for others however.

I have started using bees wax wraps (from Urban Almanac in downtown Fredericton) instead of Ziploc bags for my sandwiches and bagels :)

    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    Shiral LeBlanc's avatar
    Shiral LeBlanc 4/03/2019 12:12 PM
Unfortunately in Fredericton, apartment buildings are not included in city recycling pickup. I have started saving my recycling and dropping them off at the city-provided bins. Another tenant has started a building-wide bottle recycling drive. Every little bit helps!
