I enjoy walking to work the most because it gives me time to stretch out my body before and after work and see what it happening at a slower pace as I get to and from home.

REFLECTION QUESTIONTransport Use Muscle PowerHow do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?
robin marshall 3/27/2019 7:38 AMHaving used all of these options on a regular basis, I do feel more connected to my community when walking, biking an busing. I feel very fortunate to be able to do all to get to my work. One of the reasons I am working here!
I enjoy walking to work the most because it gives me time to stretch out my body before and after work and see what it happening at a slower pace as I get to and from home. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
robin marshall 3/27/2019 7:36 AMIn my opinion North Americans eat meat because they are short sighted and impulsive. Media and marketing has influenced our values to see meat as an item for the wealthy upper class yet can be obtained from a fast food for a dollar. The media indicates it is a quick meal with protein and is healthy to people buy into that. They do not consider the long term effects. Same thing as smoking. Not many consider the long term effects on their bodies. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Smaller PortionsFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?
robin marshall 3/27/2019 7:32 AMFor some eating more meals in smaller amounts can regulate metabolism. This in turn reduces urges for unhealthy food so we can make wiser choices for meals. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Learn the Truth About Expiration DatesHow does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?
robin marshall 3/27/2019 7:30 AMI rarley let these dates determine if I am to purchase a product. I typically only use fresh produce. In most cases I am aware that the dates are there to move a product off a shelf. I use the dates as a guide to determine how long it has been on the shelf, not how long it will last or when it will expire. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Zero-waste CookingHow are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?
robin marshall 3/27/2019 7:28 AMUsing healthier cooking devices is safer for better environment as well as safer cooked food. However, in some instances those are the only viable option based on their resources. In those instances it would be best to batch cook and have a community cook together to reduce the overall number of stoves used.
