I  learned about the Electric Vehicles, and one thing that I noticed that Electric Vehicles could reduce 10.8 gigatons Co2 by 2050. Electric vehicles is a range of 80 miles to 90 miles. So, nothing better than electric vehicles to help us getting around the city, but what if you want to travel further. The distance from Winooski to Boston is around 216 miles, so what is gonna happen if you ran out of battery. They are trying to increase the range to 200 miles. However, Electric vehicles are big WEAPON to fight the climate change, but it still has a lot of limited things needed to improve.

    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

The fast food industry are improving strongly, and bigger in the North America. According to the website name statista, there were more than 14,000 McDonald's restaurants in the US, around 7406 Burger King's restaurants in the U.S and Canada. Citizens eating an average of around 97 kg per year. That makes North American seemed like those people just living to eat meats. That is why North American always be in the top of these countries eat the most meat in the world.

Great Thien - I looked on Statista and found that in 2018, there were about 37,855 McDonald's worldwide.  That make the US share about (14,000/37,855) or 36%.  Thanks for providing the source of your evidence.  Do you think fast food restaurants are the main source of meat eating in North America?

My enjoyment of walking and bus are totally different. By walking I can smell the air in the atmosphere, enjoy the environment around me. I walk a lot, almost everyday, I walk from school to home, home to store, home to restaurant. And transport by bus, around 5-10 times. I usually go to the Mail or Burlington, using bus is easier and I don't get exhausted, it's also cheap, and by using public transport I can prevent lots of Co2.

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Purchase a Carbon Offset
A round-trip flight from New York City to Los Angeles emits just over 1.5 tons of CO2. What can you do to reduce the number of flights you take per year?

    Thien Nguyen 4/05/2019 10:06 AM
I'll be travelling soon. I will go from Vermont to Texas, Tennessee, Florida. So, instead of flight around the U.S, I just take one flight from Vermont to Texas, and we can just drive car or take train to go to other places that we want. Basically, I still release some Co2, but we will save lots more of Co2 from the flight, and if we do that, we also can save our money.

What did you learn about wave and tidal energy? Were you surprised by the information you found?

    They are renewable energy.

Wave energy is energy harnessed from the waves of the ocean. Waves are formed by wind moving across the surface of the ocean. A large amount of energy is stored in waves.

Tidal energy is energy produced by the tides of the ocean. Tides are produced by the pull of gravity from the Moon as well as the spin of the Earth. There is a lot of energy in the movement of that much water.
