Kelly Osterberg 4/11/2019 11:09 PMWe researched and found our local soft plastic recycling drop off point for all of our collected soft plastics. We made small, waste-free meals today. -
Kelly Osterberg 4/10/2019 1:20 AM10 April: Our Bokashi composting sysytem is amazing. We didn’t throw any food into the rubbish today-instead it will all go back into our garden after fermenting in our kitchen. We had some wastage today with a few bananas I couldn’t even use for banana bread. But I am going to use the other bananas tomorrow. Our recycling game today is spot on. We are moving towards reducing our packaging so that we have less recycling now. -
Kelly Osterberg 4/09/2019 12:57 AM9 April: Today we used return to earn to recycle all of our glass, plastic, and aluminium drink containers. We had more food waste today, with croissants we purchased from the bakery on the weekend going unused. However, we had little food waste from today’s meals. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Plant TreesHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

Kelly Osterberg 4/08/2019 5:17 AM8 April: Tonight is bin night. Our bin is normally full and tonight it is only half full. That speaks to an amazing week of reducing our food waste, and increasing our recyclables. Yay! -
Kelly Osterberg 4/07/2019 4:02 AM7 April: We were out all day. While we didn’t have any food waste, we created a lot of recyclable waste with our dinner purchase. We were sure to recycle it all at the end of the day. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood CompostingProducing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?
Kelly Osterberg 4/07/2019 4:00 AMWe are so excited to start using our Bokashi compost bin and compost our food scraps to reduce our rubbish and improve the soil in our garden. -
Kelly Osterberg 4/06/2019 2:52 AM6 April: Today we purchased a food composting system that we can keep and use in the kitchen. It should arrive this week and help with our food scraps. Today we kept at our recycling and reducing of food waste missions. -

Kelly Osterberg 4/04/2019 11:04 PM5 April:
Today we had some food waste- half a punnett of strawberries and a capsicum were off. We separated the fruit from the veg in the refrigerator to lengthen the freshness of the food. We saved left-over carrot sticks and capsicum strips from our morning tea to eat tomorrow. We are thinking of starting a compost bin for the food waste, because it was our greatest amount of household rubbish today.
We have started to collect our soft plastics so that we can drop them off at a local recycling outlet. All other recyclable materials were recycled today.
We are also selecting new charitable actions to do as a part of this challenge and into the future.
