Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Action Track: Social Justice Improve a Bus Stop
How can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?

I didn't get around to this, but it's on my list of things to do. I have contacted Public Works about the bus stops in town and will fight to make them clean and hospitable.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land Use Plant Trees
How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

I'll be honest, the trees won't be planted until Saturday, but they will be!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Install a Toilet Bank
How can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

We recently installed a 3 Litres per flush toilet that I have recommended to clients through my professional career - now I can give first hand experience! I find people get very hung up on toilet maintenance and always worry about the worst case scenario (people flushing inappropriate objects for example). There's no reason we can't save water 99% of the time and just deal with the outliers accordingly.

Tough to meet my challenges today - I'm on the road for work. That means no biking, less control over food, etc.

Using KIVA, I selected a woman who owns a restaurant in Colombia (needs tables and chairs to expand), and a family that raises chickens in Zimbabwe.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Support Local Food Systems
Dependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?

This has been tough since I've been on the road for work. Also, how deep do I go in this analysis? How local is local?
