Buildings and Cities Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

benches and trees are a great addition to walking paths! also having areas of open green to plop down and signs/croswalks at busy intersections. I have enjoyed walking when the sun is out and feeling it on my face and the patterns the leaves make onto paths or sidewalks.

How do you address your own feelings of concern, fear or despair about climate change?

    Sunshine Pugh's avatar
    Sunshine Pugh 4/14/2019 8:59 AM
well I'm feeling distressed or concerned about climate change the best thing I can do to relieve that is to go outside and appreciate nature for awhile. I will usually bring a paper bag and pick up trash along the way in my neighborhood and in the city.

The way I address my feelings is by doing something. That might entail getting involved with activists such as the Sunrise Movement. At least then, I am busy and can take my mind off the panic and feel like I am doing my own little work toward helping the planet.

What would a sustainable water future in your region look like? What needs to change?

What are other easy and low-cost ways to reduce your water usage at home?

    Sunshine Pugh's avatar
    Sunshine Pugh 4/09/2019 3:14 PM
there are lots of easy ways to conserve water in your home but it starts with a simple commitment to saving water. You can install low flow aerators on faucets in your home which costs less than 5$ each, you can install low flow shower heads, use less water on watering plants outside and instead buy plants suited for our climate and precipitation, take shorter showers, and always make sure the tap is turned off when you're done using it.

Materials Mulch the Base of Trees and Plants
Name some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?

    Sunshine Pugh's avatar
    Sunshine Pugh 4/06/2019 2:10 PM
I think a few of the largest impacts humans have on clean water sources are herbicide and pesticide runoff, chemical runoff from factories, and littering. People can contribute to our freshwaters cleanliness by buying organic and not dumping their trash in nature.

Everything's going well so far I enjoyed my vegetarian dinner and i'm curious to see if logging my daily food waste will help me to lower how much I waste.

Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

    Sunshine Pugh's avatar
    Sunshine Pugh 4/05/2019 3:04 PM
I would rather spend money wasted on thrown out food on buying thrifted clothes, art supplies, and trips with friends.
