ONE-TIME ACTION

Participant Feed

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

There are many things I am doing or things available to me for "drawdown" that are not included in this eco-challenge program.  So, I would like to see options where participants write in their own challenges and points, so that more things would count toward this project.  I did learn that I should push myself to higher levels of "drawdown" than I'm presently doing.

04/14 :  I will travel to and from Earth Day at Discovery Green today, via city bus instead of car.  Also, will visit my daughter and grand kids in Austin over Easter, traveling by bus instead of my car. If the bus is already going to burn the gasoline, why should I add more exhaust to the air?

      Reply to Lisa's reply:
I always take Megabus, because there is a city bus stop at the end of my block where I pick up route#44. That takes me right to and from the Megabus station!

Mary - I always take the bus to/from Austin and find it quite convenient and comfortable (plus it is safer, too).  I've taken both Megabus and Greyhound, and both were fine.  I like the seats better on Greyhound, but Megabus has some seats at tables, which is also nice. Which are you taking?

For a transport eco-challenge, I have signed up for a teleconference with NRDC to plan actions on the  campaign to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge from dangerous oil and gas drilling and to discuss recent wins in defending our public lands, waters, and wildlife. The NRDC headquarters for this teleconference is in NYC.

Mary - please tell us all what you learn, so that we can all learn with you and take action.

I've been developing a "draw-down" lifestyle for most of my adult life, but I want to make it more consistent, more challenging.  I joined this eco-challenge to make myself accountable in public, and to share the effort with others.
