REFLECTION QUESTIONLand Use Plant TreesHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Sue Shink 4/19/2019 7:23 AMI enjoy planting trees. We have a number of young trees around our farm and I enjoy walking around to check on them and care for them. It helps me get a bit more exercise. I also feel a connection to the trees and look forward to their growth. I also look forward to the day, not long from now, when more wildlife start to make use of them. I have ordered a whole bunch of trees from the Washtenaw County Conservation District. It is not too late as they have purchased 800 extra trees to sell at auction on Saturday, April 27. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Learn More about Micro WindMicro turbines can be placed on large structures to take advantage of stronger, steadier breezes. The Eiffel Tower now sports vertical axis turbines that produce electricity for use on site. Where could micro turbines potentially be installed in your city?
Sue Shink 4/19/2019 7:20 AMPerhaps micro-turbines could be installed on some county buildings. I will ask if this has been considered. In my reading I have seen that wind generally costs more per kWh, however, it may make sense in areas inappropriate for solar eventually. -
Sue Shink 4/16/2019 7:54 AMI joined the challenge to learn more about steps I and Washtenaw County can take to reduce carbon output while maintaining—or improving—quality of life. -
Sue Shink 4/08/2019 6:35 PMI am so excited to be participating in the Drawdown Ecochallenge with Washtenaw County. Thank you, leadership team and Zach Neal!ˆ -
REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Solar Water ConsultationDiversifying our energy supply and improving public health are just two benefits of renewable energy. What other motivators inspire you to consider installing a solar water heater in your home?
Sue Shink 4/08/2019 6:34 PMIt feels good to know that we are using less fossil fuels and that we are more independent.
