Walked from the office to the Seattle Ferry Terminal. Amazing to observe the progress on tearing down the Viaduct. What an amazing transformation our waterfront is going through right now.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Electricity Generation Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy Credits
Your utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your zipcode, and in your state. What steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?

Our PUD just opened up applications for community solar shares. But to sign up, you have to go into the office and sign a long term contract. Do you think their handling of solar projects will change (potential for rate based cost recovery) now that WA State just passed a 100% Clean Electricity Legislation?

Interesting. I was thinking our community solar process seemed antiquated because they planned to email the contracts, but having to physically visit the office seems silly in these modern times. I would expect that as these programs gain more momentum their processes will become more streamlined and efficient. It's odd that a utility that offers online bill pay couldn't just put in a "pay now" link with online acceptance of the terms and conditions. I mean they posted the contract in their FAQ so there was plenty of time to review it. Also, yay for WA for passing that legislation!

Happy Earth Day! We are planning an Earth Day Proclamation tonight at my City Council meeting, as well as a joint meeting with the County to discuss our climate change resiliency and adaptation plans. This includes a site vist to the off-channel reservoir we are working together to build to address low-snow pack years and allow for salmon passage and irrigation needs. I plan to suggest the City and County compete in the EcoChallenge next year to increse our local actions and positive impacts on addressing climate change. What are your Earth Day plans?

I’d like to know more Jennifer - and how we can start assessing climate resiliency and adaptation plans in our communities / cities / county’s. Would like to think there’s a unified approach or blue print to these things - but I’m not optimistic that’s the way it works.

For Earth Day - I organized an underwater cleanup of the Magnuson Park boar launch over the weekend (we hauled out 115 lbs of trash) and Jennie and I plan cleaning up a trashy patch of grass in our neighborhood.
