One thing I've noticed on my daily walks is the essential conflict between pedestrians crossing roads and people in cars trying to make left hand turns. I've almost been hit a few times by drivers trying to turn while I still have the walk sign, since they're trying to beat oncoming traffic. It's been making me think in many ways, pedestrians and drivers sharing roads just aren't compatible.
