Mary Wachelka 4/20/2019 12:29 AMNot really sure where to attend a talk on #39 Indigenous People Land Management so I’m loging on that one. Also, I’ve committed to putting bricks in my toilet tanks but I’ve only gotten one bottle of water in one of my three toilets so far. The best I’ve done thus far is reusing throw-away containers for bulk purchases at our local co-op and rethinking how to cut down in buying products that overuse plastics for packaging. It’s forcing me to focus more on what’s needed than what’s wanted and convenient.-
Noel L 4/21/2019 11:00 PMHi Mary, for Indigenous land management, I follow a site called https://www.countryneedspeople.org.au. Our Indigenous cultures have a very strong connection to the land / country which is sustainable, spiritual and cultural. The level of respect for the land and looking after it is inspiring.

REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Recycle Everything I CanHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Mary Wachelka 4/20/2019 12:21 AMSince taking on the challenge I have been washing out and reusing plastic containers to use for bulk purchases at our local co-op. It’s also making me rethink what I’m buying new and how I can reuse the container a product comes in. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Choose Recycled PaperGood job on choosing recycled paper! How can you take your action a step further?
Mary Wachelka 4/20/2019 12:18 AMJust to clarify, I haven’t really had an opportunity to purchase paper products recently but if I do it will be recycled products. I have been using notebook paper left over from my kids’ school notebooks from previous years. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Install a Toilet BankHow can your region/household prepare for changing water situations in order to become more resilient?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Mary Wachelka 4/20/2019 12:11 AMIt’s cultural, I believe. And to many it tastes good and since we’re a nation of people who get what they want, food-wise especially, we have a food industry that supplies what people demand. Restaurants, mainly fast food and sit-down chains, advertise and serve bigger, more, tastier portions that could feed 2 or 3. American is almost synonymous with the word Cheeseburger.
