To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Women and Girls Give a Microloan
Globally, women typically invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their families and communities than men. Why do you think that is?

Women are often the more responsible family member and succeed best with a supportive community. Women are often left by men to fend for themselves.  I have been a KIVA donor since 2007 and have made 35 loans. For the reasons noted above, all of my micro loans have been made to women.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Buildings and Cities Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

Taking a walk (every lunch hour) lets me get exercise, coffee and observe the environment around where I work. It also allows me to refresh my outlook for my return to the office.

I love being on my bike, getting exercise while avoiding the commute problems of others.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Use Muscle Power
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

I prefer bike commuting to transit, but will choose either over driving a personal vehicle.
Schedule and route flexibility combined with exercise and outdoor benefits.
