Took my reusable salad container out to get lunch today!  One less plastic container going to the landfill.

I looked into environmentally friendly alternatives to typical cement.  I found a company (http://solidiatech.com/) that cures the concrete with CO2 instead of water.  The upshot is that it lowers CO2 emissions and reduces water waste.  And because I was already researching, I also looked at permeable options to decrease flooding problems.  I think a combo of using Solidiatech pavers with gaps to allow water flow.

How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

I love trees, so having them around is great for my mental and spiritual health.  And, of course, given their air cleaning capabilities, they're great for physical health, too!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Transport Use Muscle Power
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

Walking rather than driving to pick my son up from daycare gives us the opportunity to meet up with friends along the way home and increases the likelihood that we might spend some extra time outside and go to the park!
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Buildings and Cities Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

The flowers are starting to bloom!  The main thing I would change about my walk is that there's an intersection that really needs a cross walk.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Eliminate Toxic Plastics
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

The main single use items I use are ziplocks and paper towels.  I have a number of reusable containers that I can substitute for the ziplocks, and cloth towels that can be used in place of paper ones.

Getting started a little late, but today I put some leftovers into a reusable container instead of using a plastic bag.  Off to a strong start!
