I have been reading about microloans for a while now, and wanted to participate.  I finally did it after learning more about the process and reading about individual entrepreneurs that just need a bit of help to get started or grow their business.  I'm interested to see how it works out.

It is encouraging that countries and businesses are exploring new ways to reduce the carbon footprint relating to electricity generation.  I hope these innovative changes can move us in the right direction

Clean air, clean water and healthy food are three reasons to care about regenerative agriculture. What are some other reasons?

In the articles I read, it sounds like regenerative agriculture can help climate change.  Even General Mills is getting in to the practice.  It also allows ranchers to raise cattle without harmful antibiotics and fertilizers.  It also allows for water conservation.

Now that my kids are older, I have more time and find myself paying attention to how my lifestyle impacts the environment.  I have more time to reduce and reuse the things I have, and when getting rid of things in my house I am putting them right in the hands of people that can use them instead of dropping them off at Goodwill.

Food Learn the Truth About Expiration Dates
How does knowing the difference between use by, sell by, and best by dates empower you to make better decisions?

I did not know that the dates on packages were for quality and not when food is dangerous to eat.  I always throw away food after the date has passed, not knowing that it is still safe to eat.  I will definitely pay more attention to this in the future.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Materials Research Cement Alternatives
Concrete is a good example of a material that most of us encounter every day, but may its carbon footprint is not obvious. What other everyday materials might have a large carbon footprint? How can you find out more?

Plastic is such a part of our everyday lives, but so bad for the environment.  I can find out more about alternatives to plastic use in my life and make adjustments that matter.

I just got back from Arizona, where I did a long hike each day.  It is so beautiful there.  I want to change my daily walk routine and walk in different places around my home.

Rebecca, I tried that this weekend and it was nice to see a different view. I'm sure we will not find nothing as beautiful as Arizona but we can keep trying.

I'm combining my daily walk with a 10,000 step daily fitness challenge at work.  So many people are taking a few minutes to get away from their desks and walk for a few minutes.  It is great to see

I watched several videos on YouTube that talked about aerobic digesters.  What an interesting concept!  It's really exciting to learn about people that are creating solutions that can one day be adopted across the world.
