Growing up in American SUBURBAN sprawl, public transit seemed like an impoverished inconvenience. But when I discovered travel in other countries (European, Asian...), I suddenly realized that the suburbs themselves are the 'impoverished inconvenience' -- and one of the major threats to planet earth.

So while some of us are making progress, so-called homo sapiens -- especially Homo Fat-Cat-icus -- better damn well step it up NOW.
