Most plastic is made from non-biodegradable materials, but most of it can be plant based. Plastic is made from polymer, what some people don't know is that this molecule is found in other things, such as plants. Cellulose, shells, exoskeletons, potatoes, sugarcane, tree bark, algae, and shrimp all contain natural polymers that can be modified into plastic. My question is why not actually do that? Is it because of cost or something related to that.

I decided to do this challenge because I knew we had LED light bulbs in our home. This means we already had many our light bulbs replaced, so it was difficult to find some that weren't. Though, it got me thinking. Once people only have LED's in their home what will happen to things that require non-LED light bulbs. There would be no more lava lamps. I was just wondering about this because I enjoy my lava lamp, but if it helps the environment then I must say good bye.

I read about possible things we could do to help use less energy. One of the devices that would help is the smart thermostat. What I'm wondering is how would it reduce heating and cooling demands and still maintain building comfort?
