REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Recycle Everything I CanHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Cayenne Levorse 4/08/2019 8:24 AMI am trying to be a lot more aware of this. For example, I just bought one of those reusable bee wraps to wrap food in instead of using plastic wrap. The bee wrap lasts a year and you can wash it as needed. Also, my dryer broke. Usually I would have gone out to get a new one, but instead I looked around for repair shops who could sell me a used one they had repaired instead. Then they took my broken dryer from me so they could use it for parts. It felt better to know I wasn't contributing to the cycle of waste and "new" "new" "new". -
Cayenne Levorse 4/05/2019 8:30 AMI like straws, and have a serious case of straw guilt. But last night I ordered bamboo straws online that are reusable. Woohoo! I'm back in the straw game! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Smaller PortionsFun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?
Cayenne Levorse 4/05/2019 8:25 AMHealth benefits by not over eating which I definitely tend to do. When I really like something I tend to eat so much my back hurts. Ha! That can't be good for anyone.
This is my owl plate. He is smaller than your average plate and he is going to help me work on portion control. :)-

REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Cayenne Levorse 4/04/2019 4:38 AMI think we don't understand or respect the source of our foods. I was walking through a grocery store a few months ago and I saw a customer had haphazardly discarded their frozen chicken nuggets in the paper goods aisle. I ran over to see if it was still frozen and they were not. I was sad, because those chickens gave the most ultimate sacrifice they could, just to end up as soggy, warm chicken nuggets someone tossed aside. We don't think about that. That it was a living creature. That resources went into farming it.-
Elisabeth Warner 4/04/2019 10:35 AMThis makes me sad, too. -
K T 4/04/2019 10:26 AMWell said! -
Stephanie Rischard 4/04/2019 8:42 AMI agree! Animals should be cherished and appreciated no matter what stage they're at. I appreciate all the efforts out there for a waste-less society.
