REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Zero-waste CookingHow are environmental issues like black carbon and other emissions from cooking fires or rudimentary cookstoves also human health and social justice issues? Why do these issues matter to you?
Jocelyn Ludlow 4/11/2019 3:57 PMPeople who have inadequate resources are forced to cook over fire and that adds pollution. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Jocelyn Ludlow 4/10/2019 2:24 PMThe ability to cheaply and easily farm livestock on the US as a result of the large amount of available grazing land, and the massive production and subsidy of feed grains such as corn make it a lucrative endeavor. As a result, meat is generally affordable for most Americans. The traditional American diet is reflective of a culture that was once made up of laborers and farmers, who subsided on a meat rich diet. Much of American culture now is more sedentary and do not have the same nutritional requirements of the past, so a transition to a more plant based diet would result in better health. -
