BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Thank you so much, Jeanette and the rest of the team for a great learning experience! I have not completed all my challenges, but I now have a few concrete ideas about what I can change in my day to day life to meet some of those goals. I would not have thought to implement those changes if I did not do this challenge. I will definitely try to do this again next year.

    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

The environmental cost of meat eating is out of the sight line of most North Americans. In Canada, the new food guide may help point people toward vegetables and grains.

Maybe if we held tons of veggie food fairs with recipes to go with each dish. Let folks try the foods & show easy ways to prepare them. Have packages of the ingredients to pick up there? Whatcha think Anne-Louise?

Wow-have one less child WOW-pretty radical, LOL. But I have one daughter who says she's not bringing kids into this world-mostly because she doesn't like them:) So that's good I guess!

Cardiff University Report: Mainstreaming  Low Carbon Lifestyles
From the way we travel, to the food we eat and the way we use energy at home, achieving a ‘1.5 degrees’ world means mainstreaming low-carbon lifestyles, in tandem with the structural and policy changes required to decarbonise quickly.

I hope  there will be opportunities to take the DRAWDOWN ECOCHALLENGE  to the next step.  The  advice in the Cardiff Report  would be a good place to start.

Transport Research and Consider Switching to a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle
Reducing (or eliminating) exhaust emissions and improving public health are two benefits of green vehicles. What other motivators inspire you to consider switching to a more fuel-efficient vehicle?

Pure Electric vehicles still seem expensive (if you want something that can comfortably fit 5 adults for a 100km drive). Frustrating!! In Canada, we often travel long distances.
There appear to be a bunch of Chinese models coming on strong but with few real reviews it is hard to go down that path....yet. I am determined though that our next car will be an EV !

Better walking infrastructure contributes to accessibility and accessibility, from my perspective, is a major contributor to being a more liveable city for all.

Buildings and Cities Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

I'm grateful for the walkable areas of Toronto.  With the population growing, we need to find ways to locate people and jobs closer together so that walking to work is more often an option.

Ya, especially Toronto-the amount of commuting is hideous. And i see soooooo many cars with single occupants:(
