Although I've been participating in EcoChallenges for many years, I appreciate that this event provides a unique opportunity to focus on an area where I have fallen back into harmful habits, and provides a framework, inspiration, and support to try something beyond what I had even envisioned as possible. Thank you, NWEI, for these on-going opportunities for education and growth!

Instead of a leaky faucet, I replaced an entire toilet that cut the gallons per flush in half. (1.6 gallons to 0.8 gallons)

I am in the market for a newer car. Will probably purchase a used hybrid.  I do need a car as I live 3 miles away from the nearest bus stop.

    Action Track: Social Justice
Indigenous speaker and activist Winona LaDuke says that, "most indigenous ceremonies, if you look to their essence, are about the restoration of balance — they are a reaffirmation of our relationship to creation. That is our intent: to restore, and then to retain balance and honor our part in creation." Why is balance important to sustainability?

Had you heard of the term "silvopasture" before now? After learning more about it, what do you think is the biggest advantage of silvopasture?

Yes, I had heard about it. I think one of the biggest advantages is more nutrients in the crops. Also it really is beautiful!

For Eater Sunday meal with the fam, I cooked organic, sustainably produced local beef with organic vegetables and potatoes from the local farmer at the farmer's market. I found salad dressing in a glass jar to use. We sent leftovers home in old glass containers ("pyrex" bought secondhand at a local store last year) held closed with rubber bands from produce which we save to reuse. Today I made dog food, which we make ourselves for dog health and well being, with locavore organic vegetables and turkey, and organic grains bought in bulk. For Easter baskets, we gave cotton napkins in woven shopping  baskets.

Weekend spent with family for the Easter Holiday. No options available for public transportation. Too busy for a walk today!
