I always make sure to carry my bamboo utensils with me but I know there really aren't many bamboo options. The most sustainable option is to bring what you have, bring utensils from home!!

Traveling with low waste is hard!! In San Francisco there are so many options to go zero-waste, but when it comes to food, everything is packaged unless you go to a sit-down restaurant. I have to get clever
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Food Reduce Animal Products

I think it is a societal norm to base a meal around whatever meat is being served. People talk about the steak rather than the side of green beans or mash potatoes. There must be a shift away from being meat-centered to plant-centered

Knowing the difference between these three dates will empower me be less wasteful and stay at ease when I am worried about getting sick by something that is "expired."

    Food Composting
Producing food that goes uneaten squanders many resources—seeds, water, energy, land, fertilizer, hours of labor, financial capital. Which of these kinds of waste most motivates you to change your behavior regarding food waste? Why?

    Lucy Streeby 4/04/2019 11:08 AM
One of the reasons I am most motivated to change my behavior regarding food waste is that composting is a natural fertilizer that will take the place of several chemicals that farmers use on crops.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

    Lucy Streeby 4/04/2019 10:55 AM
I think that the most effective way I can incorporate the "R's" into my daily life is while at school. I think that this will be hard since I do a lot of mindless action but thinking about starting this is exciting!
