The challenge kept me present to my individual behaviors as around meals and food waste. Much of what I chose I was doing, but not realizing it.  I can up the anti on my consciousness of eating vegan more frequently and being more consistent with eating less animal based products.  I am not a vegan or vegetarian, but I can continue to move in that direction.  Yesterday I attended a Climate Change conference at St. Joes University sponsored by my township's Nature Conservancy and learned that I have an organizational partner in my goal of eliminating single use plastics in our township--the Lower Merion Conservancy.  I have volunteered to partner with them as a community advocate including distributing a survey to my township friends, neighbors and community at large which I will begin doing today. I have also established connections with our township Environmental Action Committee and will be participating with their sustainability sub-committee as a community advocate doing community education programs within the township.  I will be participating in the Upper Darby Earth Day (outside of my township) celebration with the Citizen's Climate Lobby this coming weekend to talk with people there about climate change and legislative initiatives to reduce carbon emissions.  I will be doing this again the following weekend in Narberth (in my township).  These are all opportunities to get people in my community to attend Drawdown intros and workshops which my husband and I are just beginning to plan.  So all in all this has been a productive and rewarding 3 weeks in making a difference in my community.

Sorry team, but I couldn't post my actions yesterday and today, it isn't possible to enter yesterday's activities, so we can't fill in what we did yesterday, today. It was great fun. Thanks to everyone.

Having a board of commissioners can make a decision process complicated. However, my area representative and I are in agreement about where we need some more sidewalk for safer walking and the owner of the land won't agree to have a sidewalk installed.

I think more people need to learn about the impact of the meat and poultry industries on the environment.  Also, there are health benefits to a plant based diet.  Check it out!

Transport Research and Advocate for High-Speed Rail
What are the factors that influence your choice of transportation? These can include things like money, time, and convenience, as well as perceptions of danger or safety. What would need to change for you to regularly choose more climate-friendly options?

I've experienced the benefits of high speed rail in Europe and Japan and would welcome a wider acceptance of this technology in the Untied States. It would make a difference in the Northeast corridor.

My friend Ruth attended a training program on regenerative agriculture and shared with me the importance of protecting the earth and finding ways to restore nutrients to the soil so that crops planted there will flourish. Alternatives to fertilizers which damage the soil and those who consume the crops are important to protect our health in the future.

Last week, I attended an event focused on food waste.  One of the points raised was about expiration dates and the difference between sell by, use by and actual dates when it is no longer safe to consume certain foods.  It was very enlightening.

I went to a lecture on indigenous people here on the North Shore of Boston.  Learn about what is happening about changing the holiday of Columbus Day to another title.  Discussion and feelings varied but very civil.

Hi Mary,  I'd welcome a chance to hear about your experience at this event.  Also, wishing you the best with your Drawdown event next week.

Went to a lecture on our local native Americans.  Met great people and want to go to another lecture next week to hear another talk.
