RECYCLE BREVARD 2019 Feed

BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

To compensate the half walk, we went for a full walk in the evening. All done and I think we created a new habit that will go beyond the challenge ;-)

Our walk today was interrupted by a beautiful dog who wanted to be pet. Oh, well. It was shorter but very pleasant :-)

Hey team, sorry for not participating much this time. The National Sustainability Summit (NSS) kept me away from the computer and crazy busy. I'm really proud to be part of this awesome team! The NSS was a great success with over 180 attendees from all around the country. Most of the attendees were Extension faculty who left the conference motivated and reinvigorated to tackle climate change. Dr. Katherine Hayhoe was our keynote speaker. If you are not familiar with her, look her up. She is inspiring!

sounds to me like you have an excellent reason for not participating 100%; if only everyone could have gone to your conference..............

This has been a wonderful experience for me.  Not only have I learned so much, I've enjoyed being the Captain of our team.  While the final points haven't been tallied yet, I'm so happy that our team is 3rd in the State of Florida and 221st overall!  That's a huge achievement for such a small team.  I want to thank NWEI for another outstanding challenge!

I like these Challenges as I can refine and work on correcting specific issues. Our household lifestyle has changed since our first Sustainable class (Thanks Linda Seals). This spills over to the households of our 5 children and 7 grandchildren. They often are more successful than we are in making changes.

Avoiding plastics is very difficult!  I did purchase mesh produce bags for both car.  I make 2 shopping lists. One for Publix and one for the SunSeed Co-Op where I can buy in bulk.  Noticed today that Publix offers paper straw in boxes.

To do a better job of  limiting food waste, our veggie garden group is building a compost bin this weekend!
