    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

Being a way of life for most of the country for so long, many generations are resistant to eliminating most meat from their diets

I thought our home was fairly energy efficient and it's a little scary to see how much room there is for improvement.

I was reading the challenge where you can do an online energy audit for your home.  I feel it would be a good idea of the Drawdown website posted links to make it easier for participants to complete these challenges.  In this case it would mean sharing websites that provide energy audits.

    Food Support Local Food Systems
Dependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?

Supporting local farms is very important to me.  In this day and age small businesses struggle to compete with larger companies, which in this case source their food from far away locations.  On Long Island we have many farms so it's not necessary to source food from the other side of the country.  Another reason it's important to use local organizations is because it reduces your food's carbon footprint.

After researching toilet tank banks I found an interesting idea where you could make your own by using a clean milk bottle instead.

I looked for ways to include more local food in my family's diet.  I researched various local CSAs to find the one that best meets our needs.  I also found a company that will deliver milk from a New York dairy farm.  This company also has reusable glass bottles so that was an added bonus!

I learned about sell by, use by dates on food products. I think I will waste less food now.

    Materials Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

I am trying to use larger tubs of yogurt and placing them in reusable containers for work rather than buy the single serve cups. In my kids' lunch boxes, they have reusable containers for sandwiches and snacks rather than aluminum foil and ziploc bags.
