Human[powered transportation is better for the environment but it takes a longer amount of time. Other methods of transportation are efficient but effect the environment.

Good job on choosing recycled paper! How can you take your action a step further?

Even with the plastic bag ban in lewiston maine, many retailers still give you paper bags, some with a glossy coating and string handles that can't be recycled. I have made it a point to carry around 1-2 fold-able, reusable bags in my work bag in case I decide to do any shopping downtown on the way home. I also keep reusable grocery bags and produce bags in my car for shopping trips. Then, you don't even need to use paper at all. Also According to one recent study, of the 6.3 billion metric tons of plastic waste  that the world has generated since the middle of the last century, we've managed to recycle only about 9 percent of it.

Transport Test Drive an Electric Bike
Half of all trips made in the US are three miles or less; 72% of them are driven. Private vehicles account for 60% of trips of a mile or less. Do you often drive short distances instead of biking or walking? If so, how might incorporating an electric bike into your lifestyle help you make more climate-friendly choices?

Having an electric bike can help the climate better than an actual car using gases. but the problems with an electric bike are can't keep up with a long distance. even the distance isn't a problem it is annoying because the energy of an electronic bike can be waste without using it. take to long to go uphill, this problem can be solved by adding an extra motor to help the power of the bike. We the people who are biking don't have a safe place to bike, we can't bike on the walking lane because there are too many people, biking on the road with other cars can be too risky. an electric bike is too easy to get broking over time, unlike a car. the weather can be one of the problems you can't bike on a rainy day or snowing day it is too risky. when you get hit by another car there is a high chance that you will have a much serious injury than the person in the car.

Electricity Generation Explore Other Electricity Generation Solutions
What is the most exciting solution you explored? Why is it exciting to you?

I have always been into solar power and even got solar panels on my roof but for some homework I looked into three solar electricity generation solutions from draw down. I have pros and cons for each of them. Concentrated solar power (CSP) turns the sun light into heat using mirrors to generate heat. The only issue with CSP is it has to be in very dry and hot climates and can't be used everywhere. Next, is solar water is used mainly to heat up water. A large portion of electricity made is used to heat water so solar panels are used for that. I wonder though how efficient it is in terms of space taken up, and how fast it heats the water compared to what is used now. Finally, is solar farms. They are solar panels that are angled to face the sun and they are put there in mass quantities. Only issue is they take a lot of space which can possibly hurt forests and many other natural bio-mes which isn't good.

I  learned about the Electric Vehicles, and one thing that I noticed that Electric Vehicles could reduce 10.8 gigatons Co2 by 2050. Electric vehicles is a range of 80 miles to 90 miles. So, nothing better than electric vehicles to help us getting around the city, but what if you want to travel further. The distance from Winooski to Boston is around 216 miles, so what is gonna happen if you ran out of battery. They are trying to increase the range to 200 miles. However, Electric vehicles are big WEAPON to fight the climate change, but it still has a lot of limited things needed to improve.

According to Drawdown, educating women and girls about family planning is ranked 7th in results by 2050 and will reduce 51.48 gigatons of CO2. 225 million women in lower-income countries say they want the ability to choose whether and when to become pregnant but lack the necessary access to contraception. And this isn't just a problem in lower-income countries. 45% of pregnancies in the United States are unintended. Right now it is projected that by 2050 our total world population will be 9.7 billion. If this happens, the resulting emissions reductions could be 102.96 gigatons. Not only will this solution help reduce climate change and control overpopulation, it will also make living situations safer for girls around the world. According to the United Nations Population Fund, complications from pregnancy and childbirth are the leading cause of death for girls between ages 15 to 19. If women in developing regions have better access to modern methods of contraception, 76,000 maternal deaths would be prevented every year.

    Food Reduce Animal Products
In your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?

it says that north America eats more meat then other countries because i think that they can afford that much.  Food choices depend on history, culture, and environment, as well as on energy and nutrient needs.

I can save a lot more money I have to spend on the car. I can go longer without wasting too many gases.

    Food Smaller Portions
Fun fact: Your brain and stomach register feelings of fullness after about 20 minutes of eating. While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come out of eating smaller portions?

    Abdirahman Dudeyeh's avatar
    Abdirahman Dudeyeh 4/19/2019 9:27 AM
It can help avoid throwing food out that doesn't get eaten.
