This is an interesting read.  I enjoyed reading "what happens to my old refrigerator or freezer once I get rid of it?"
    Happy Thursday!

I would like to switch to an electric car.  It is just hard because of the cost (min $40 000).  I wish I would have purchased when the Ontario gov. was giving rebates up to $15 000. Right now, the federal government is offering $5000 but I am not sure how long that will last with an election coming up. If I wait, the technology is improving (especially batteries) and costs are coming down.  I think maybe my next purchase will be electric...but I am a couple years away at least.

I was intrigued to learn more about green roofs and white roofs. So far, I've found out that Ajax Rouge Hospital is developing a green roof: https://hkla.ca/portfolio/rouge-valley-hospital-rooftop (and by the renderings it looks like it will be really attractive), and UOIT's University Studios student housing has a green roof on one of its garages: https://hkla.ca/university-studios-1900-simcoe (this looks more like an attempt to look ecofriendly, but it's a start), and the Technology Building at UOIT also has a green roof.  As for white roofs, I was surprised to learn that the Oshawa Centre's entire roof ( 260,000 sq. ft.) is white--to reduce air pollution and GHG emissions. There's a photo of it on p. 12 of this Durham Report on heat islands in the region:  https://www.durham.ca/en/regional-government/resources/Documents/Council/ChairStatements/Durham_Heat_Island_AODA-300418.pdf. I think we'll be seeing more businesses get white roofs in the future as summers get increasingly hot. I think it'll take a while to get homeowners on board with white roofs, though.

Good morning everyone.  Just to let you know I am still doing my daily challenges , yogurt and fruit (no waste) I have a little Tupperware I put my lunch in (smaller portions) one meatless meal (apples and cheese) but what I enjoy the most is keeping track of my wasted food.  Because I am writing everything done I am very much aware of what I throw away. Happy Friday!! :>)

I am so glad I took this challenge as I am learning more and more about women around the world that own businesses.  This is a good read and good videos too!

Over Christmas, I visited my daughter in Ghana. We took some courses with an organization called "Global Mama's"--a really cool organization that gives work to women in Africa. My daughter and I took a cooking class with a local mother, and a batique-making class with another. It was an incredible experience. They also had a store, where we could buy products made by local women. I wanted to buy everything! https://www.globalmamas.org/Info/aboutus

Good morning and Happy Monday.  North Bay was wonderful seeing my family and today I have started once again my daily challenges, meal portions, zero waste and so on.  This morning I donated two kits to Femme International and tomorrow I will start learning about woman owned businesses and how to support them.  Have a great day today!
