Joan Dilluvio 4/24/2019 8:02 AMMy motivation for doing this challenge is basically for my grandchildren. I want a better, safer, and cleaner world for them to live in the future. Plus it feels good to know you have some control over the environment, even if the government does not feel the same. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Choose Recycled PaperGood job on choosing recycled paper! How can you take your action a step further?
Joan Dilluvio 4/24/2019 7:59 AM
By possibly making crafts out of old books and magazines..(library just did a program on this)LOL -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Mulch the Base of Trees and PlantsName some of the human activities impacting the health of water systems, both locally (your watershed) and globally (freshwater and oceans). What can you do to improve the health of water systems?
Joan Dilluvio 4/24/2019 7:57 AMI try and be careful and aware of what items go down my sink drains. I dispose of cooking oils in a can or bottle that I would recycle anyway. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Launch a Recycling ProgramHow can you take your commitment to sustainable living beyond yourself? How can you, personally, work toward broader change?
Joan Dilluvio 4/22/2019 11:40 AMI have been teaching my children and grandchildren the different ways to recycle, and to learn how to reuse articles instead of throwing them out. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Replace Manual ThermostatsHow do you anticipate replacing your thermostats for smart ones will positively impact your life?
Joan Dilluvio 4/22/2019 11:38 AMSmart thermostats can be more easily regulated, so that heat or a/c is used when absolutely necessary. By doing so, it will not waste money or energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Go PaperlessWhat do you want to prioritize over material 'stuff' in your own life?
Joan Dilluvio 4/22/2019 11:36 AMI started clearing out items that I no longer use, or hardly use, such as old small appliances, or even clothing that I do not wear anymore. If I ever move it would make life easier to pack. LOL -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Plan to InsulateWhat are some of the benefits of making your home more energy efficient?
Joan Dilluvio 4/22/2019 11:34 AMYou can save money for one, and make sure any appliances are energy efficient. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Become A Master Recycler/ComposterWhat could you do differently to waste less?
Joan Dilluvio 4/22/2019 11:33 AMStop using paper plates and go back to using washable plates, and washing by hand, rather than using my dishwasher. I would save money and not use so much electric. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONMaterials Recycle Everything I CanHow could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?
Joan Dilluvio 4/18/2019 5:13 AMI reduced my paper usage at home, by cancelling my newspaper. I found I wasn't reading it as much, any news I needed was on my cell, or on television. I reuse plastic bottles to make plant holders, or water houseplants. My Peapod delivery order, I gave the plastic bags back to the driver, so that the company can reuse to another customer. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBuildings and Cities Go by BikeHow does using human-powered transportation make you feel compared to using other methods of transportation?
Joan Dilluvio 4/18/2019 5:05 AMI feel invigorated because I am not only helping to improve the environment, but when I use my bike, I am also improving my own health with the exercise benefit.
