Stacy Rosenbach-Duex
"We are fortunate to live in one of the most beautiful places on the planet. I strive to honor the environment by using public transportation commuting to work; patronizing a local farm every week during growing season to purchase their organically grown vegetables; picking organic blueberries in summertime from a farm near my home; spreading my horse's manure to fertilize pasture; transplanting native trees."

Stacy Rosenbach-Duex 4/24/2019 11:50 AMToday in response to an intranet site posting by one of our staff members regarding coffee growing practices, I researched Fair Trade Organic coffee from a brand we currently use that is available from our coffee supplier. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Social Justice Improve a Bus StopHow can you advocate for transportation systems which minimize environmental impact while also meeting human needs?
Stacy Rosenbach-Duex 4/24/2019 10:24 AMAs a daily bus commuter on Sound Transit and Metro, I always participate in the surveys they circulate on the bus during commute rush hours. Encouraging bus ridership to have fewer cars on the road cuts down on emissions, saves energy and alleviates congested roadways. I cleaned up trash at a park and ride bus stop last evening- litter on the sidewalk and in the bus shelter. It is discouraging on a daily basis to see the increased lack of respect for others and the environment in public transportation hubs such as transit centers and park and rides. Empty beer cans, plastic water bottles, gum, blankets, food waste and vomit at the transit center-not a great way to start or end a work day. I try to pick up where I can. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONFood Reduce Animal ProductsIn your opinion, what contributes to people in North America eating more meat than any other countries? What does this say about North American values and ways of living?
Stacy Rosenbach-Duex 4/24/2019 10:03 AMPerhaps standard of living in comparison with some other countries contributes to meat eating. As America developed with agricultural growth, in economic downturns if nothing else having animal stock as food source helped families survive and perhaps became a symbol of being if not "well off" then at least still alive and kicking. My family on both sides through grandparents and great grandparents have farm roots with meat and dairy stock as well as vegetable stock in the Midwest and in Washington State that I am proud of. I enjoy consuming fish, meat and vegetables and according to me, I have good values as a North American person. Amen. -
Stacy Rosenbach-Duex 4/23/2019 12:29 PMI compost tea leaves onto my rose bushes at home. The deer still eat the roses and they never have a chance to bloom, but the plant keeps coming back and the tea leaves are put to good use! -
Stacy Rosenbach-Duex 4/22/2019 10:57 AMThree meatless meals last week. -
Stacy Rosenbach-Duex 4/19/2019 5:37 PMReally noticing the litter and disregard for others at busstops. WIll be cleaning up around mine in the next few days. -
Stacy Rosenbach-Duex 4/17/2019 4:48 PMMy challenge is going swimmingly. Although I'm not signed up currently for a meatless meal on a daily basis, we did have a vegetarian dinner last night, which is common for us to do sometimes once or twice weekly because we love vegetables along with seafood and meat; I love it all, folks! -
Stacy Rosenbach-Duex 4/16/2019 4:26 PMWe had Puget Sound Energy to our home to do a Residential Home Energy Assessment and replaced all of our light bulbs a couple of years ago. It was interesting also to see how much lower our PSE bill was after we purchased a new refrigerator, and we unplugged a second refrigerator that was used for additional freezer items storage. -
Stacy Rosenbach-Duex 4/15/2019 9:02 AMWe carpooled with another couple for our long weekend vacation Thursday through Sunday, so only one vehicle instead of two made the trip to eastern Washington.
