James Rosenberger 4/08/2019 5:46 PMI want to buy REC's as my current electric generation is not 100% renewable. I just can't figure out where to buy them. I have PPL and I don't see any way to purchase through them. I see things pointing back to https://www.green-e.org/ but they seem to just certify not actually sell the REC's. Any ideas where I can get started? Thanks!-
Martha Christine 4/12/2019 8:27 AMI bought carbon credits from this oganization to offset my flight this spring, but you can also buy them to offset other sectors --try going to "purchase" and clicking on "home use". https://www.terrapass.com/carbon-footprint-calculator
Or you can buy renewable electricity from clean choice: https://cleanchoiceenergy.com/how-it-works/pricing-plans/

REFLECTION QUESTIONElectricity Generation Choose Renewable Energy or Purchase Renewable Energy CreditsYour utility company is able to tell you your average energy usage. Ask them how your energy usage compares to others in your zipcode, and in your state. What steps can you take each day to reduce your electricity usage?
James Rosenberger 4/06/2019 7:52 AMInstall a monitoring device such as Sense.com which will show you individual loads in your household, and one interesting piece of data Sense will show you is the "Always-On" wattage. You can challenge yourself and family on finding lights, power supplies, electronic devices etc which are consuming power 24/7 and turn them off or put them on a timer to reduce the always-on consumption in your home.
