Prairie Crossing Charter School Feed

BACK TO TEAM PAGE

Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

The challenge went great, but there was one action that I didn't get to do, and I wish I did it. Other than that though, I think it went pretty well.

It's been great to spend this month being mindful about my behaviors.  Sometimes I think that's the most important factor in action - just thinking about it, having things be at the forefront of my mind rather than in the background.  I hope I keep making deliberate decisions even without a checklist to motivate me!

Buildings and Cities Go for a Daily Walk
What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

I have enjoyed watching the spring changes - the grass turning green, buds turning into leaves, birds making their nests, and more. Sidewalks next to busy streets would make walking more accessible, safe, and easier.

Planting trees or any plants makes me feel like I'm nurturing new plant lives. It is a great way to connect with nature and it is relaxing too.

Food Keep Track of Wasted Food
An average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money?

I would rather use that money to help plant trees and donate to wildlife sanctuaries

There are a lot of great ways I could use the $1500 per year most Americans spend on wasted food... better quality food.  A vacation.  Massages.  Savings, charity... actually, thinking about it, most things would be more stuff, and I don't want more stuff!

    Transport Stay on the Ground
What was your process like for restructuring your trip? How can you avoid more air travel in the future?

I will have to leave a day earlier to allow for travel by car.  However, it is saving money.  We/I do a lot of car travel over the summer when the time allows for it. School to chose to send us to a closer conference so that allows for car travel and reduces the amount spent. Also, we will only travel by car - we won't have to rent a car when we get there too.
