Permaculture is a form of land management that produces excellent yields without depleting the soil of its nutrients. It also creates habitat for insects and other creatures which keep the farm community in balance.

Biophilic design is a philosophy for regenerating our cities is one of the best ways to reconnect people with the rest of the living world.   Defining healthy human habitat as  urban forests, native plant rain gardens, daylighting of historic streams, and other green infrastructure when woven into our modern landscape is far more potent antidote to what ails modern society than the use of synthetic pharmaceuticals to reduce tension or anxiety.

One thing I've noticed on my daily walks is the essential conflict between pedestrians crossing roads and people in cars trying to make left hand turns. I've almost been hit a few times by drivers trying to turn while I still have the walk sign, since they're trying to beat oncoming traffic. It's been making me think in many ways, pedestrians and drivers sharing roads just aren't compatible.
